2022 – A Year in Review
With the year quickly drawing to a close it’s time for a quick wrap up the most important things that happened and WOW, what a year it’s been.
Thank you to everyone who has visited the blog and supported us in making Auckland greater.…
Flashback Saturday: A Congestion Free Network
With 2022 drawing to a close, expect us to take it easy over the next couple of weeks. We will also look back at 2022 as a whole and forward to what 2023 may have to offer. For today we have dug into the archives and found a post that was originally published in July 2013.…
Waka Kotahi’s Harbour Bridge Walk and Wheel Events
After the government suddenly proposed and then preemptively cancelled a dedicated active modes bridge last year, Minister of Transport Michael Wood called for a trial of walking and cycling over the current bridge – saying that ideally, this would happen “over the quiet summer months or a long weekend if it can be done safely”.…
Are the NW Bus Improvements that much of an improvement?
After taking a long time to get started, progress is finally being made on the suite of improvements to make buses better for the Northwest. This has occasionally been referred to as the NW busway but the quality of what’s being delivered is far to low to be considered a busway – both in terms of the level of bus priority and the bus stop facilities.…
Flashback Saturday: the (rubbish) Integrated Transport Programme
Most Saturdays we dig into the archives. This post by Matt was originally published back in March 2013.

Wayne Brown’s Letter of Expectation to AT
Today the council will decide what to consult on in next years budget. Another important item on the agenda will be approving the Letters of Expectation for Council Controlled Organisations like Auckland Transport. The letter of expectation is meant to do what it says on the tin, to tell the CCOs what the council expects of them and the CCOs are meant to take them into account when developing their annual plans – though it seemed Auckland Transport pretty much ignored them during Phil Goff’s term.…
Auckland needs infrastructure investment to support intensification
This is a letter to Auckland Council elected members, sent by the Coalition for More Homes on Tuesday the 6th of December 2023. We’re sharing it because it’s on point: infrastructure needs to keep up with new housing, and fast.
Intensification is occurring across most of the Auckland urban area, delivering greater housing choice, improved affordability and lower carbon living.…
Transport Plan Déjà vu
As part of the announcement on Saturday of additional government funding for the Eastern Busway, Minister of Transport Michael Wood and Mayor Wayne Brown also announced plans to work together on a new transport plan for Auckland.
Alongside this important step, Auckland Council and the Government have confirmed a path ahead for crucial futureproofing projects such as getting the best return out of the City Rail Link, Auckland Light Rail and the Alternative Waitemata Harbour crossing, Transport Minister Michael Wood and Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown have announced today.…
Eastern Busway Government Funding Top Up
On Saturday the government announced they were putting an extra $200 million into funding the next stage of the Eastern Busway from Pakuranga to Botany.
