Learner Licence Tests
The NZTA appear to be quite happy as the percentage of people passing the learner theory tests is increasing. Here is their press release:
The NZ Transport Agency is congratulating young drivers and their parents for working hard to learn the road code as pass rates for New Zealand’s computerised learner driver licence theory test have hit 70% for the first time, while serious crashes involving teenage drivers drop to record lows.…
CRL and the CFN in Parliament
Gerry Brownlee was asked in Parliament today about the City Rail Link and the costs of delaying it. The fact that Brownlee claims it the project isn’t being delayed is staggering. The council and Auckland Transport have for a long time being planning for construction to start in 2015 and to be completed with trains running in 2020/21.…

Should Te Papa North be in Manukau?
Just over a week ago there was an interesting announcement by the government and Len Brown about an Auckland version of our national museum, Te Papa which is planned to be built in Manukau. However something about the proposal just doesn’t feel right and the herald editorial a week ago captured many of my thoughts in suggesting it should instead be on the waterfront.…
Is Australia about to copy our Transport Policies?
I can’t say I’m much of a follower of Australian politics so please forgive me if I don’t get the various intricacies right but it is definitely going to be interesting to see what happens with transport over the coming years now that Tony Abbott has been elected prime minister.…
EMU meets LOCO
Future and past meeting outside the shed at Wiri on Friday: Testing the coupling system between the our first EMU and KR’s diesel locos just in case the new trains ever need to be moved by an old one. When we have more EMUs this will be a much more unlikely possibility as other EMUs will be the first choice for any haulage.…
Transport Funding in Auckland
We spend a huge amount of money on transport each year and it can often be difficult to see exactly where all of that money is going. Thankfully the NZTA have started to become much more proactive in what information they release to the public and have actually been publishing the details online.…
