Consultation on the new bus network in the South closes on Friday
Over the last month and a half, Auckland Transport have been busy consulting in South Auckland on the new bus network that is one of the key ingredients needed to revolutionise public transport in Auckland. However thankfully consultation can’t go on forever and so it closes at 4pm on Friday.…
New Network Southern consultation formally begins
Like I mentioned the other day, the new network consultation formally started today. If you haven’t seen the video yet make sure you watch it. Along with the overall map for the area (below), every single route and major interchange has its own map to make it easier to understand what is proposed.…
New Network Consultation Starts This Week
The current bus network is a convoluted mess, akin to someone having thrown spaghetti onto a map. Last year in the draft Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP), Auckland Transport announced that they would be fixing it with what I think is a fantastic new network.…

There has been a lot of talk about the new bus network that was first proposed in the Regional Public Transport Plan. Thankfully it received extremely strong support from those that made submissions allowing Auckland Transport to start working towards implementing it.…
Changes to the draft RPTP

IPENZ talk on the new PT Network tonight
Sorry for the really late notice (Stu was a bit late in sending it through). If your interested in the bus network redesign then you may be interested in a talk being held by IPENZ on the subject tonight.…
Improving our Farebox Recovery
Whether you support improved public transport or not, one thing that everyone probably agrees on is that we need to improve the efficiency of our PT services, particularly in regards to the level of subsidies required. Long time readers of the blog may remember a policy change the NZTA made a while ago called the Farebox Recovery Policy which set an arbitrary limit as to the amount of operating costs that need to be paid for by passengers.…
