More City Link buses to Wynyard
Some good news from Auckland Transport who quietly as of yesterday made changes to the city link services. Now all City Link services (the red buses) will now go to Wynyard. In the past only every second bus did so. This should hopefully make the service more useful to people, especially as Wynyard grows.…
Airport only pretends to want a rail connection
On Saturday of all days, Auckland Airport (AIA) released their new 30 year vision including a website called Airport of the Future. In many ways this doesn’t appear all that different from their previous long term vision documents, with the key change seeming to be that they eventually want the future Northern runway to be longer than currently planned and consented for.…
Getting HOP in the Hands of more people
Brian Rudman’s column on Friday about the completion of the roll-out of HOP had some good points, although also a few mistakes. More than a year late, and about $13 million over the original $87 million budget, Auckland Transport’s pre-pay, Hop travel card has finally achieved 100 per cent coverage of the city’s train, ferry and bus network.…

Over the last year there have been more than 11 million trips on the rail network and it’s the first time we have reached that mark.…

This is a guest post from Michael Dickens
The concept of Wellington’s Transmission Gully Road and a Petone to Grenada Link Road has been around for decades.
Suddenly though we’re blindsided by major new motorway options ‘tacked on’ with haste to the proposed Petone to Grenada Link Road (P2G) in February this year.…
John Key says no to fast tracking CRL …. for now
A letter sent from John Key to Len Brown has once again ruled out agreeing to an early start to the City Rail Link. The letter has been uploaded by George Wood.
Dear Len
We met on 4 February and discussed the proposal contained in your letter of 30 January in relation accelerating the City Rail Link project .…

Better or cheaper public transport?
With the great news that the Hop Card has finally been fully implemented, attention now turns to complementing integrated ticketing with integrated fares. Integrated fares is all about ensuring that you pay the same amount for a trip from A to B regardless of how you got there: a single bus, bus & train combination or whatever.…
