HOP rolling out to more buses tomorrow
From tomorrow we will finally move one step closer to the completion of integrated ticking with AT HOP going live on Ritchies buses and that includes the Northern Express. That means finally the AT branded transport ticket can be used on the AT branded buses (you would have thought it would have been one of the first to change over).…
The revival and future of rapid transit in Los Angeles – Part 2
This guest post is the second in a two part series from Darren Davis who is a Principal Transport Planner for Auckland Transport looking at the revival and future of rapid transit in Los Angeles. The first part which looks at the revival is here.…
Devonport Wharf and Marine Square upgrade to begin
In a couple of weeks work will start on a $5.5 million upgrade the Devonport wharf and Marine Square as part of a larger $24 million upgrade to Devonport which also includes a new library. One thing I find most interesting about the upgrade is that it will see a number of existing carparks removed and replaced with an enhanced urban space as well as more parking for bikes and scooters.…

Shambolic cricket public transport
I attended the One Day International Cricket match at Eden Park yesterday. While game was outstanding, and finished in a stunning nail biting tie, what really let things down was the post match public transport. The whole thing was a disorganised shambles. …

Thousands pay Voluntary Bus Lane Tax
About 3-4 years ago a herald staff member was caught driving in a bus lane kicking off a campaign enforcement of them. Now at least every year the Herald publishes a story looking at how many have been fined and that appeared in the herald yesterday.…
Affording the CFN – each and every year
Late last year we illustrated how easy it is to afford to build the Congestion Free Network across Auckland over the next 17 years. Despite investing over $60 billion in our transport system over 30 years congestion is still expected to get worse and we believe that is predominately because overall the current plans prioritise investment in roads well ahead of investment in alternatives that can help improve mobility and encourage a shift in mode share.…
Len Brown on the CFN
Len Brown was on Radio Live with Wallace Chapman yesterday in a fairly lengthy interview which covered a whole range of issues. If you want to listen to it you can here and it started just after midday. What I want to focus on is one particular is the section where he talked about transport and the Congestion Free Network as there are a number of parts to it that need to be addressed.…
