AT Trialing New Platform Markings

Starting from next week Auckland Transport are trialling new markings at a few train stations in a bid to make it easier for those with disabilities, pushing prams or with bikes. They say “concerns have been raised about how difficult it is to know where to stand on the platform to be in the best position to locate the doors (visually impaired passengers) or the ramps (mobility impaired) and be able to board the trains before they depart.”…

Can cities fill up? Has Auckland simply become too populated to accommodate any more people, as some have argued? Do we need to put up the “closed” signs? In a word, no. There is plenty of room to accommodate more people within the existing urban footprint, although doing so would require us to do things a bit differently.…

First H&E Double Decker now on the streets

Some good news today with the first Howick & Eastern double decker operating from today. East Aucklanders are the first to get the benefit of a new fleet of double decker buses, being rolled out from today. Until now their use has been restricted to the Northern Busway, but this morning the first double decker bus has gone into service in the Botany area.…

AT let down for All Blacks Celebration

I and I’m sure many others were surprised to see that the All Blacks celebrations in Auckland are taking place in Victoria Park. Why there instead of a parade down Queen St and/or some kind of event on Queens Wharf.
