Downtown: Little Queen St
This is a quick post on the Downtown site. Precinct Properties, the owner of the Mall and the two existing towers [Zurich Hse + HSBC Building] between Lower Queen St and Lower Albert St, are expected to lodge a resource consent in a couple of months for a total rebuild of this site.…
Panmure Bike Park Consultation
Auckland Transport are after feedback on their design for bike parking at Panmure Station with a view to rolling it out to the rest of the network.
Designs for cycle parking at the new Panmure Railway Station could be wheeled out across the region.…
Postcard from Washington DC
A fairly quick post from the capital of the United States. Central Washington is exactly as you’d expect: a grand planned city of monuments and monumental vistas. It is a place designed to inspire awe with a scale that renders humans as insignificant.…
Auckland and Wellington Rail metrics comparison
I’ve criticised Auckland Transport in the past for having so many items on their closed agenda. For example this was from their meeting on Tuesday:
Items for Approval / Decision

iv.…
Waterfront Promenade update

Photo of the day: Weeds
This site is surely a prime candidate for development sitting right next to the Grafton Station and just across the road from the new Auckland University campus currently under construction. In addition it is also passed by all the buses that travel along Park Rd.…

Auckland Transport is spending over $122,000 to put on shuttle buses for it’s staff moving between it’s Henderson and CBD offices. This is something I heard about a while ago and Radio NZ has picked up on the story:
Staff at the agency which runs public transport in Auckland are being offered a shuttle service for business trips between offices, because buses and trains are too slow.…
What’s happening with the HOP daily passes
For a number of months earlier this year the Auckland Transport Board Reports included the following lines.
March Meeting
Testing of a new AT HOP Day Pass is underway for targeted introduction by April 2014 across bus, rail and ferry. The pass will offer greater flexibility through three separate geographic zones compared with the existing and to be withdrawn paper Discovery Day Pass
