Government Misleads on Public Transport Spending In Auckland

A Herald article last month highlighted strong support for more Government spending on public transport improvements in Auckland. It included the following quote: But a spokesman for Transport Minister Gerry Brownlee said that with $890 million budgeted for public transport in Auckland over three years “it would be grossly unfair to suggest the Government hasn’t given this mode of transport the priority it deserves”.…

CRL in Parliament again

The CRL has been raised once again in Parliament with Green spokesperson Julie-Anne Genter questioning Gerry Brownlee on the CCFAS. A full transcript of it is here. Gerry has clearly taken the first question very literally and his response was at least a little bit funny.…

Gerry Brownlee on the CRL

Phil Tywford asked transport minister Gerry Brownlee in parliament yesterday about the CRL Transscript is here. Perhaps it is just me dreaming but Gerry did at least seem less negative about it than he had in the past. Based on his answers it suggests he waiting for the final version of the CCFAS to come across his desk before he can properly comment.…

What really happened with Snapper/HOP – Part 2

Following on from my post yesterday on the Snapper/HOP mess, I felt that a lot of further questions remained unanswered. Phil Twyford attempted to get some answers out of the Minister of Transport in parliament: While questions around why Auckland Transport decided to allow Snapper to become involved in the HOP scheme remain frustratingly unanswered (perhaps until I read a bit further into the mountain of information I have), a question that I want to look at in this post relates a bit more closely to the title of this post – why did things go wrong?…
