Waterview Connection March Timelapse
The latest timelapse video for the Waterview Connection. Regardless of your views on the motorway, it’s a bloody impressive piece of kit boring out the tunnels.…
FASTER FFS!
Here at transportblog if there is one little change that we feel Auckland Transport could easily make to improve their game it would be to confront the pervasive culture of under-selling that affects their communications of future projects. What is this about? …
What happened to rail frequency increases?
Over the last few years we have been concerned the rail network failed to meet its patronage targets. A key reason for this would be the failure of Auckland Transport to implement rail frequency improvements over the past few years. With the start of EMU services this week it is surely time to start increasing frequencies.…
Photo of the day: Aotea Station?
Is this what the Aotea station could look like? The image is from Grimshaw Architects who are one of the companies working on the reference design for the CRL. Also appropriate was yesterdays cartoon in the herald…

Photo of the day: Kea
We’ve had trains and buses already today so how about some ferry love to round out the PT options. Sadly no service improvements associated with this one today though.

Fanshawe St Goes Green

The EMU Launch
Electric train services are finally a part of the city with the first ones running earlier this morning and yesterday I went along to the official launch of the trains. The first thing I noticed was that Auckland Transport had set up stalls and activities for kids including shutting down the central part of Gore St through the Britomart Precinct, a much better use of it in my opinion.…
