RLTS Submission

Well I have made a start on my submission on the 2010-2040 Regional Land Transport Strategy. Submissions are open on this very important transport strategy until December 18th. Making a submission is pretty easy, and you can either use the template and “hints” provided or come up with your own suggestions.…

RLTS Released Tomorrow

Tomorrow the 2010-2040 Regional Land Transport Strategy will be released for consultation. This is a key strategy that will guide Auckland’s transport development over the next thirty years, so I am very glad to see that it is a well balanced document, providing around $21.5 billion for public transport improvements and operating costs over the next thirty years, compared to $24 billion for road improvements and maintenance.…

A peek into Auckland’s PT future

The Auckland Regional Council’s Regional Transport Committee has spent most of this year working on developing the 2010 Regional Land Transport Strategy. To continue on from my previous post, we now take a step into a bit of the unknown. I will probably continue to change my mind about the best way for Auckland’s rail future versus the most realistic way to actually get change in my head for a fair while yet, but I guess this is a bit of a mixture: somewhat ideal, somewhat realistic.…

Auckland’s Rail Future – Part 1

OK I have to say that I do love doing this, pontificating about what Auckland’s railway system might look like in the future. A few posts back I wrote in quite detail why I thought Auckland’s railway system has a bright future, and how that would absolutely result in a need for future expansion of the system, particularly through building the CBD Rail Loop.…
