Parnell station a reality?

Big push to complete station upgrades before electrification

There was some great news to come out of yesterday’s Auckland Transport board meeting (though it’s a pity they haven’t bothered to include any detail of what was discussed at the meeting on their website yet ). That news is that the board has agreed in principle to complete an upgrade of all existing train stations in the Auckland region by the time electrification is up and running – which now seems like it might be early 2014.…

A University Train Station

Auckland University and AUT are probably two of the biggest drawcards for public transport users in the CBD. I certainly know from catching New North Road and Sandringham Road buses that at least 50% of the bus passengers seemed to always get off at the two university stops on Symonds Street.…

Parnell/University Train Station

There have been plans for quite some time to add a station between Newmarket and Britomart, to serve the Parnell area and also potentially the university. It hasn’t been a simple process though, with debate between Ontrack, ARTA, Auckland City Council and various local groups over its location.…
