The agenda for NZTA’s February board meeting, which took place this morning in Wellington, has been posted on their website. Here’s an outline of what was discussed: Probably items 2, 4, 7 and 8 are the most interesting. Time to send off the OIA requests!

  1. 20 January 2011

Extension of time to respond to request made under the Official Information Act 1982

Thank you for your email of 14 January 2011 requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982:

‘all board papers presented at the NZTA board meeting of Friday, 17 December.’

This letter is to advise you that the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is extending the 20 working days available to respond to your request, as allowed for under section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982. The NZTA requires an additional 16 working days to respond to your request. You can therefore expect to receive a response by 7 March 2011.

A decision to release the papers that you have requested cannot be made until after the minutes from the 17 December 2010 meeting have been ratified at the next meeting, to be held on 3 February 2011.

Under section 28(3) of the Official Information Act 1982, you have the right to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about the extension. The address is:

    Office of the Ombudsmen
    PO Box 10152
    Wellington

If you would like to discuss the extension with the NZTA, please contact me by email to andrew.martin@nzta.govt.nz or by phone on (04) 894 6153.

    Yours sincerely
