  1. I always thought the best route would be straight down grafton gully and down under Harbour surfacing around Wairau valley.

  2. Very good idea the tunnel should have 5 lanes going north bound and you could still use the bridge to run south bound traffic

  3. Auckland council. Stop asking for money from the government, why? We have got health , education all broken. No more money for toys.

  4. Just get ‘a’ solution underway!
The problem is only getting worse, the longer this seemingly endless discussion continues.

  5. This is cool, the only issue I see is the northern end of the tunnel needs to be further north near Akoranga. Otherwise it would be very vulnerable to flooding/high tides which is already a major issue on the northern motorway just before the bridge

  6. Great idea, just make sure there will only be lanes for cars not trains.
Robotaxis are around the corner which will bring everyone from A to B for a fraction of the cost.

    1. False.

Passenger rail could use the existing Northern Express lanes.

Rail freight could alsi be expanded to the North Shore and beyond.

  7. Building a bridge is wise. Tunnel is expensive to build and takes too long, also operating cost will keep increasing.
