The latest few images and videos from the Waterview Connection Project.

And the East Tamaki pre-cast facility which has now finished producing 24,000 segments and it plus the machinery are now up for sale. It highlights just what a massive logistical challenge these big projects are and something that will need to be repeated for the CRL.

This image also shows the progress of the southern ventilation building while the image after it shows what it should eventually look like.

I hope AT are planning to do something similar time-lapse videos for when they start the CRL works

  1. Whether or not you like roads, the engineering and construction process is amazing. This also shows how much money is spent on things that the driver never sees. A lot.

I’m surprised how much hand finishing there is on the pre-cast segments. 24,000 of them…

And let’s not forget, those people work hard. We’re tired at the end of the day from writing blogs or making spreadsheets…

Note that that tunnel is backed-up already.

  2. Would it be worthwile for Auckland Transport to buy the precast facility and equipment for use in a few years time. Surely it would be cheaper than starting again.
