  1. That would be ideal in public parks. Most countries only have ice creams available from the ‘Stop me and buy one’ person.

  2. The ultimate in re-cycling ;). Probably one of the reasons Denmark has been able to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% of 1990 levels while New Zealand’s has increased by 20%. Go NZ! Where is that “clean and green” slogan of ours again..

  3. Doing what I can … a couple of weeks ago I started getting to CBD fringe customers by bike, including delivering equipment if it fits in my backpack. Done four such trips so far.
Although I’ve told it is more utility cycling than quaxing.

  4. It’s also noticeable that she is impeccably dressed – ie no sweaty shorts or trainers, no lycra pants, no hi-vis vest, no helmet, no backpack. Instead, just functional shoes and a nice cardy. No sweat, literally. Denmark makes cycling enjoyable. Your own lane, so you don’t have to worry about getting hit by a car. No need for a helmet, because you don’t need to worry about being hit by a car. No fluoro vest, because you don’t need to worry about being hit by a car…. etc. And (also with the other bikes in the background) – no need to buy flash new modern bikes – just use the one your grandma left you, because it is still just as functional as when it was new.

  5. I have on of those Christiania bikes and it is awesome. I take my little girl around in it and she loves it. Demands to be taken in it rather than a stroller.

However, they really do need an electric motor in Auckland or it would be too hard work. Easy to get now.

  6. Guy,
As a point of interest I think the general term for these bikes is a cargo bike and of course they are not bicycles but tricycles. My understanding is our helmet law applies to bicycles and therefore does not apply to tricycles or unicycles for that matter.
Also, cycle helmets though not generally advertised, are designed for individual falls and not designed for collisions with motor vehicles.

Having fallen from bikes numerous times racing without head injuries I have also had two falls since the law and on both occasions my helmet was shattered, on the first a shard of plastic lacerated my scalp and the second I was concussed.

I think the taw is a nonsense, a true crash helmet is a full facial motorcycle type which is unwearable on a bike.
