In the long term, most of Wellesley will see no change in width. Between Mayoral&Albert there may be some width reduction. All that will change is 2 bus lanes in each direction.
Meh, lose the cars on that section and all you need is one bus lane each way plus stopping bays. That could be accommodated amazingly on those few central blocks. A bit like the new Swanston St in Melbourne, or the bus mall they have in Portland.
Two actual bus lanes in each direction is excessive, unless you can find somewhere to put a bank of twelve or fifteen bus stops in a row you couldn’t use such capacity.
Issue currently with Wellesley is the bus only section of Wellesley near Queen sends way too much traffic up Kitchener Street. This means can take several minutes to cross Kitchener here, despite the one narrow lane of traffic. This is probably best solved by shutting off Kitchener in front of the Art Gallery, and making it 2 way. Its purpose is mostly to access a Wilsons carpark building anyway. However this does show need to be careful when putting in bus exclusive lanes, that maybe need accompanying minor road changes too.
Definitely agree with two waying and normalising Kitchener. The one way is a hang over from the great motordom days when it operated as a couplet with Lorne St. Let’s basically close Lorne (and Queen) to traffic, and make Kitchener the main traffic road for that corner of the city.

Wellesly street; because they needed to build a moat to keep me away from the aut girls, such prescience
…through the eye of a fish.
I lived in the T&G building (now the Elliott Hotel) for almost a year … good times. Really miss living in town.
Wellesley Street – the future City Centre urban busway. Hopefully they can still also include some civic realm improvements.
Well it’s a six lane highway right now so there is stacks of room to make a kick ass urban street with buses in it.
