With less than four hours to go before the submission period on the Draft Unitary Plan closes I thought we would do one discussion of news on the plan as well as a reminder to get your submission in.

Auckland Council say that so far over 14,000 pieces of feedback have been received on the plan. At the start of the week the count was at less than 3000. Of course we don’t know what the make up of those submissions are and I pity the people who have to read through them all.

Radio NZ covered off a number of aspects of the discussion this morning including:

Penny Hulse saying that changes will be made to the plan.

As mentioned in the last piece, there has been a huge amount of misinformation being put out about the plan, something we have talked about more than once. Unfortunately it has really skewed the debate which has been unhelpful and why it is so important that you make a submission.

You can read our blog submission here and either fill in the councils feedback form or use in the quick and easy Generation Zero template but remember to do it before 5pm

GEN ZERO UP FORM

I must say, as fun as it has been talking about the plan, I am looking forward to this being over …. for now. Next week we will take a more in depth look at the issues surrounding the alternative funding discussion as submissions for that close next Friday.

  1. Submission completed and sent. Many thanks to the Auckland Transport Blog team for raising awareness and urgency on the importance of submitting. Have a great weekend.

      1. Aye. And it is my hope that the vast majority of those 14,000 submissions came via Generation Zero’s fantastic effort to get people sending in submissions.

        1. It’s really not a large number. I bet most of the people complaining about not being consulted failed to put in a submission.

    1. Very well done Patrick and Matt (and ATB… and gen zero!). A bright, clear beacon in the fear-generated quasi-cyclone.
