Public transport has many benefits but some just can’t be quantified, like how it gives a location and audience to make a public display and have a little fun. The latest example of this is from Vienna where a lady got on an underground train with nothing on but a pair of boots.
You do have to laugh at the dry response the PT operator gave when questioned about the incident “We know that everyone has a different perception of temperature. We do not believe that it so warm in our subways that you have to undress.” The Atlantic Cities has a list of other similar incidents.
But closer to home, in May this year Generation Zero boarded trains in nothing by their underwear to protest against the government focusing so much of the transport budget on roads.
But it isn’t just nudity (or partial nudity) that falls into this category. Again in Wellington, just over a week ago also the main train station was overrun by zombies.
These may each be fairly random events but they are things that probably wouldn’t happen at all without the presence of PT, sure you could drive your car naked but how many people are really going to notice? Oh and can we get some of these kinds of things in Auckland please.

I saw the zombies and naturally assumed it was a get together of young Nats, Act on campus and libertarians.Turned out they were the living dead and rather more enlightened. I mean, they weren’t demanding the government abolish what’s left of the public health system and sell off our national parks.

That photo at Welly station looks like a normal Monday morning commute.
They should have hobbits running around at the Welly train station come the movie premiere… I would like to see a rock or roots band unexpectedly playing inside a train unit. That would make for an interesting commute.

The trend seems to be away from matching bra and knickers.
