July-2016 Patronage

Surprise, residents say yes to more ferry services

You may recall back in October that Auckland Transport was consulting on increasing ferry service to Pine Harbour to take advantage of a new vessel operator Sealink was building.In perhaps the least surprising outcome to a consultation, last week Auckland Transport announced that when they asked locals if they wanted more services that they said yes.…

New Ferries on the way

Some good news for Ferry users with a number of improvements on the way. New Waiheke Ferries Fullers are spending $16 million to build two new 360 seat vessels for use on the run to Waiheke. The design will be based on the Te Kotuku which launched just over a year ago and incorporate modifications based on staff and passenger feedback.…

Updated RPTP consultation outcome

Back in May Auckland Transport launched a short consultation to update their Regional Public Transport Plan (RPTP) on four specific areas to reflect the work and thinking they’ve undertaken since the RPTP was released in 2013. The consultation was limited to four areas:The proposed introduction of simplified zone fares Proposals for a new light rail transit (LRT) network on some major arterial routes Service and infrastructure changes arising from the Ferry Development Plan which was approved by the AT Board in December 2014 Revised service descriptions arising from community consultation on the new bus networkAT haven’t formally announced the outcomes of that consultation however a paper on them went to the confidential session of the AT board and that has quietly been released publicly.…

Another month and another good patronage result from Auckland Transport – particularly for rail. Patronage in April is naturally down on the madness that is March due to the combination of a 30 day month, ANZAC day, Easter and School Holidays/Uni holidays.…
