Confusion over the AT HOP card

One day I’d really love to write a post about the Hop Card which wasn’t dominated by the utter incompetence of those involved in its introduction. Unfortunately, today is not one of those days. Using the new AT HOP card

In just a few short weeks the real HOP card card rolls out to the rail network. At platforms people may have seen the ticket machines which can be used to purchase single tickets and also will be used to top up HOP cards and they may have also seen the the tag posts at the various entry points.…

Telecom to “hook into” the AT HOP card

Another article that almost passed me by. This was in Wednesday’s NZ Herald: Telecom is hitching up to Auckland’s $110 million transport ticketing project by turning smartphones into wallets for use on buses, trains and ferries. The company yesterday showed the technology in action at its testing laboratory in expectation of making it available late next year for payments to retailers as well as public transport.…

Rolling out the AT HOP card

With confirmation that Snapper have been kicked out of the integrated ticketing project, the rollout of the AT HOP card is now underway. This will start first on the trains, as detailed on the MAXX website. “Hop Card” unveiled tomorrow?

I received an email today from the communications team at Auckland Transport, advising that there is to be a media conference tomorrow at 2pm to announce something to do with the “next phase of integrated ticketing”. Unfortunately I can’t make the media briefing tomorrow – though I’ll blog about it once I know for sure what has been announced.…
