1 Million HOP Cards
Late last week Auckland Transport announced that they sold their millionth HOP card.
Thanks a million Auckland – the millionth AT HOP card has just been sold.
AT HOP is the smart card which can be used for bus, rail and ferry travel throughout Auckland.…
Topping up your AT HOP card online
For the most part, the roll out of AT HOP to trains seems to have gone fairly smoothly with few issues so congratulations to AT for this. Perhaps the only area that has been any comment is around the online portal, AT have released this point of clarification about the process.…
Confusion over the AT HOP card
One day I’d really love to write a post about the Hop Card which wasn’t dominated by the utter incompetence of those involved in its introduction. Unfortunately, today is not one of those days.
On Monday sales of the new AT HOP card went live (apparently) and from October 27th (this coming Saturday) you will be able to start using your AT HOP card on the rail system.…
Win a HOP card loaded with $50
In recognition of HOP rolling out to the rail network on the 28th of October and the ferries a month later we thought it might be fun to celebrate this long awaited event. We approached Auckland Transport who agreed and so we have managed to get our hands on TWO AT HOP cards to give away, each loaded with $50 worth of travel on them.…
Using the new AT HOP card
In just a few short weeks the real HOP card card rolls out to the rail network. At platforms people may have seen the ticket machines which can be used to purchase single tickets and also will be used to top up HOP cards and they may have also seen the the tag posts at the various entry points.…
Telecom to “hook into” the AT HOP card
Another article that almost passed me by. This was in Wednesday’s NZ Herald:
Telecom is hitching up to Auckland’s $110 million transport ticketing project by turning smartphones into wallets for use on buses, trains and ferries.
The company yesterday showed the technology in action at its testing laboratory in expectation of making it available late next year for payments to retailers as well as public transport.…
Rolling out the AT HOP card
With confirmation that Snapper have been kicked out of the integrated ticketing project, the rollout of the AT HOP card is now underway. This will start first on the trains, as detailed on the MAXX website. The biggest change is that we are (finally) shifting our ticket sales away from the 1920s approach of selling them onboard:
On-board ticket sales are being phased out
Get used to buying your ticket before you board.…
First look at the “proper” HOP card?
Courtesy of “Akarana” on the Campaign for Better Transport forum, we may have our first look at what the “proper” HOP card will look like when it’s (eventually) implemented some time later this year (or later this decade, judging by how the project has progressed so far).…
HOP Card unveiled – but many questions remain unanswered
Billboards around the city, plus notices on buses, have confirmed today that the new name for Auckland Transport’s integrated ticket will be Hop – as was revealed quite a long time ago. My initial thoughts on the name were mixed, but as time has gone on I realise that there are far bigger issues to be concerned about than the name of the card.…
“Hop Card” unveiled tomorrow?
I received an email today from the communications team at Auckland Transport, advising that there is to be a media conference tomorrow at 2pm to announce something to do with the “next phase of integrated ticketing”. Unfortunately I can’t make the media briefing tomorrow – though I’ll blog about it once I know for sure what has been announced.…
